Establishing Positivity Through Awareness

This morning was my first day back at Racelab swim practice and it felt really good to be back in the water. A few initial observations are that I am lacking endurance and my form is a little choppy. One thing I found really encouraging was how aware I was of myself and my surroundings. I am in a different headspace now than I was when I was training with Racelab previously. I am now very aware of how I feel and what negative thoughts come into my mind.

I decided to try something different this morning. As soon as my muscles were burning and I felt the negative thoughts coming in, I actively told myself to stop and pushed forward. On a physical level I did not feel much difference, but this is about building new and positive habits moving forward. I realized that by accepting where I am now, I can establish a baseline to work up from. I will give this a try tonight at track as well and see how it helps/hinders my progress.
